Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Oscar Pistorius, the paralympian gold medalist, was sentenced to a mere 5 years in prison for killing his longtime girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. After being found guilty of culpable homicide, the Olympian was taken to the Pretoria prison to serve his jail term.
Now an insider claims that Pistorious “cries himself to sleep every night.” Not sure if it’s because he’s finally showing remorse for what he did, if he just hated sharing the same bunk bed with fellow cold-blooded murderers or he’s just scared stiff of being ass-raped by inmates.
The 27-year-old Pistorious, according to a tipster, was rocking the orange jumpsuit and wept like a little girl the first night in his cell until he fell asleep.
“You could hear him. Shortly after the door closed you could hear the tears … he was torn up. Broken. The crying went on and on. We think he stopped when he fell asleep. It was really bad,” adds one insider.
The disgraced paralympian went through a 36-hour “comprehensive needs assessment,” followed by an orientation program to inform him of all the rules and regulations in the Kgosi Mampuru prison.
Pistorious’ “B group” classification in the pokey entitles him limited personal photographs and a “no-contact” visits on the weekend and on public holidays. His visits are limited to 45 per year.
Pistorious is expected to serve just ten months of his five-year jail term, causing outrage from the public. Steenkamp’s family felt that they did not get the justice they deserved for the killing but will respect the verdict nonetheless.
The Correctional Services department had no comments about the claim.
